About Me And This Blog:

Hiya, my name is Dorian or as most people call me, MrToast72. I am not quite a full stack developer, but I am quickly getting there.

Current languages under my belt: C++, Python, JS, HTML, CSS, Astro, Docker, and Git, with more being added every day.

I created this blog to track my cyber security/hacking journey as well as my slef-hosting journey, and to help others who are interested in the same field. I am currently a student at the University of Regina for my Bachelors in Computer Science, so I hope to pass on some of my knowledge I learn throughout my degree.

I started down the path of self-hosting/tinkering about 4+ years ago when many companys started moving to subscriptions for everything. I never wanted to pay for someone to host my data in the first place, let alone host it and then make money off of me. So I started to look into self-hosting and found that it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. I started with a simple Nextcloud server to host my own files and access them remotly, reverse proxy, and a few other things. Next, I worked on hosting a password manager so I wouldn't have to pay for Dashlane any longer. After that, I went after any and all apps I use that I could host myself. I now have a fully functional self-hosted server that I use for everything I need. I hope to share my knowledge and experience with others so they can do the same.

This blog is still relitively new, so more information and articles are to come!
